3D Printer

BigRep ONE

The BigRep ONE is a great addition to any manufacturing facility. It makes it easy to create massive parts out of plastic, while meeting tight tolerances and impressive repeatability. It comes from the company BigRep, which focuses on making large-scale, production-quality additive manufacturing centers.

This industrial-grade 3D printer can completely replace your traditional plastics manufacturing — with this machine alone, you can create high-volume production runs from a single part. This machine allows you to bring your manufacturing in-house, optimizing your product cost, turnaround time, and the final quality of your pieces.

With the BigRep ONE, you don’t have to worry about most of the quirks that usually come with FDM 3D printers. This machine professionally handles filament storage, initialization and calibration, all while allowing you to make parts up to one cubic meter.

A company might buy a BigRep ONE if they want to speed up their production and prototyping phases while cutting back on operational costs. Compared to traditional machine shops, the BigRep ONE brings plastic manufacturing to a new level.

With a little bit of 3D printing experience, you can use the BigRep ONE to go from a rough idea for a part to a physical product in a matter of hours. It’s a machine that you won’t realize how much you need until you get one for yourself.

Features and Benefits

Create Massive, Production-Grade Parts at Low Costs

Just like other 3D printers from BigRep, the BigRep ONE is the industry-leading way to make large parts that meet your quality expectations. With this machine, you can create production-grade parts without any additional finishing steps required. Plus, it boasts all of the cost savings associated with FDM 3D printers. With this machine, your parts will cost a fraction of the price and will be done significantly faster as compared to traditional plastics manufacturing. Not to mention, you have over 1 cubic meter of build volume to work with.

Bring Production In-House

One of the best selling features of the BigRep ONE is its ability to bring your plastics manufacturing in-house. All you need is an electrical outlet to plug into and some available floor space, and you can become your own plastics-based machine shop.

  • Dozens of materials to choose from. You can choose between dozens of parts, allowing you to hand-pick the final properties of your parts that you make.
  • Great accuracy and precision. The BigRep ONE has some great default settings for its accuracy and precision, unlocking the ability to make tightly-toleranced parts.
  • Run the ONE 24/7. The BigRep ONE is designed to run around the clock without any performance degradation, giving you even more control over your production schedule.

Take the Guesswork Out of 3D Printing

3D printing can come with a lot of headaches and confusion, but the team who built the BigRep ONE took extra care to remove most of these grievances. As compared to a consumer-level desktop FDM 3D printer, the ONE looks like a completely different generation of 3D printing.

  • Great bed adhesion. Its standard polyimide foil-coated build plate offers superior bed adhesion over glass or TPU-based beds.
  • Modular parts for quick swaps. You can quickly swap out extruders and beds to maximize your performance and customize how your ONE runs.
  • Easy to use machine. With a helpful touchscreen and simple instructions, a complete beginner can use the BigRep ONE successfully.

Speed You Need

In the world of engineering, being able to make parts faster is a game-changer. This criteria alone can help with your prototyping phase, speed up your time to market, and allow for more produced units each year.

  • 500mm/s print speed. At 500mm/s, the BigRep ONE is one of the fastest FDM 3D printers on the market. Faster print speeds directly equate to more units that you can make every hour.
  • Faster turnarounds. Thanks to algorithm optimization and hardware speed, you can unlock much faster turnarounds with the BigRep ONE.
  • Higher throughput. All of these speed savings translate to more units that you can make and sell every year. Plus, the added accuracy and precision mean fewer defective parts that come from the BigRep ONE.

More About This Technology

Fused deposition modeling (FDM) is one of the most common forms of 3D printing, and it’s largely used by hobbyists and DIYers. It has a special place in industrial settings as a low-cost way to make presentable 3D parts. You might use an FDM printer to create a scaled model home, an aesthetic representation of the final part, or a non-load-bearing component.

FDM works through an extruder on an XYZ (3-axis) gantry. Solid plastic is pushed against a hot nozzle which turns the plastic molten. The molten plastic is then carefully applied to the bed of your 3D printer. The 3-axis gantry will move around in X and Y, drawing a single layer of your 3D model. When it’s done, the nozzle will move up in the Z direction and create a new layer directly on top of the previously-extruded layer. This process continues until your full 3D-printed part is completed.

FDM printers are not used for load-bearing applications due to the weakness of the plastic material, and the weak points between each layer of the print. Even a small cyclic load can easily cause failure between layers.

You might find FDM-printed parts in the aerospace, medical, and consumer goods industries.
