3D Printer

BigRep Studio

The company BigRep is unlike any other company in the 3D printing space. Looking specifically at the BigRep Studio, you’ll see what we mean. This massive 3D printer can handle huge industrial-grade parts and achieve very impressive accuracies and repeatability.

It’s clear that this 3D printer was made for engineering departments that can’t sacrifice on quality, size, or speed of their additive manufacturing center. With the BigRep Studio, you can handle huge throughputs of parts with no problem.

This 3D printer unlocks a new avenue of plastics manufacturing, allowing you to handle all of it in-house. By narrowing down your supply chain and bringing the production in-house, you have a lot more say over the final price, turnaround time, and quality of your parts.

As an industrial-grade solution, it has plenty of features that can help with your manufacturing — it includes a fast-heating print bed, a filament chamber that keeps your plastic controlled, and resolution that you wouldn’t expect.

Features and Benefits

Best Way to Prototype

The prototyping phase usually comes with a few iterations, small tweaks, and plenty of testing. With the BigRep Studio, this full phase can be optimized. This FDM 3D printer will speed up the process while giving you more meaningful results.

  • Idea to part in hours. With the BigRep Studio, all you need is a 3D CAD file to start making parts, allowing you to go from a rough idea to a finished part in a matter of hours, instead of weeks.
  • Reiterate endlessly. Feel free to change your prototype as much as you’d like, since you can print dozens of parts simultaneously without added effort.
  • Handle prototyping in-house. With in-house prototyping, you can get more out of each part. You gain full control over the design and production, which is invaluable.

Production-Grade Products

Some FDM printers can create parts that are okay to use internally, but not good enough for consumer use. With the BigRep Studio, you can create production-grade products with no added cost or time.

  • Incredible detail and quality. Your customers will demand high-quality parts, and the BigRep Studio can easily deliver that time and time again.
  • Repeatability you need. Each print on the BigRep Studio comes with incredible accuracy that allows you to make dimensionally identical parts in large quantities.
  • Low per-unit costs. Since the BigRep Studio is an FDM 3D printer, the operating and material costs are incredibly low, keeping your margins healthy.

Saves Time and Money

The bottom line is that the BigRep Studio is one of the most powerful tools when it comes to saving time and money in any engineering department. Not to mention, this machine also unlocks a lot of extra design freedom.

  • Quicker time to market. Want to get your new product to market before your competitors? The BigRep Studio will streamline the production process, making this possible.
  • Lower part costs. The BigRep Studio always offers low-cost production, regardless of the batch size you’re working with.
  • Easy to maintain and upkeep. This printer doesn’t require any large-scale maintenance or downtime — you can use this FDM printer around the clock without it failing you.

Create Massive, Production-Grade Parts at Low Costs

It cannot be overstated how unique the BigRep Studio is. It offers a combination of scale, speed, and accuracy that you simply can’t find elsewhere. This company targets engineering departments just like yours with an option that actually works. The BigRep Studio can handle your production schedule, regardless of the size and quantity of your parts.

More About This Technology

Fused deposition modeling (FDM) is one of the most common forms of 3D printing, and it’s largely used by hobbyists and DIYers. It has a special place in industrial settings as a low-cost way to make presentable 3D parts. You might use an FDM printer to create a scaled model home, an aesthetic representation of the final part, or a non-load-bearing component.

FDM works through an extruder on an XYZ (3-axis) gantry. Solid plastic is pushed against a hot nozzle which turns the plastic molten. The molten plastic is then carefully applied to the bed of your 3D printer. The 3-axis gantry will move around in X and Y, drawing a single layer of your 3D model. When it’s done, the nozzle will move up in the Z direction and create a new layer directly on top of the previously-extruded layer. This process continues until your full 3D-printed part is completed.

FDM printers are not used for load-bearing applications due to the weakness of the plastic material, and the weak points between each layer of the print. Even a small cyclic load can easily cause failure between layers.

You might find FDM-printed parts in the aerospace, medical, and consumer goods industries.
