3D Printer

CraftBot Plus Pro

The CraftBot Plus Pro is the most affordable FDM printer currently sold by CraftBot, making it a great option for entry-level 3D printing departments. Although this printer is the older iteration (which has largely been replaced by the “Flow” family), it has plenty of usability and added features.

It has the smallest build volume, but it has a generous temperature range on the hotend, allowing you to print a wide range of materials. Its build accuracy and layer thickness are both impressive, which makes this machine great for handling small and precise parts.

This is a desktop unit, so you can put it on any relatively flat surface and start getting high-quality prints within minutes. The setup is incredibly simple, and it can fit almost anywhere thanks to its small overall size.

Who is the CraftBot Plus Pro for? Engineering departments who don’t know how much 3D printing they’ll do. It might not make sense to spend thousands upon thousands of dollars — yet. With the CraftBot Plus Pro, you can introduce your engineering team to 3D printing and see how advantageous this manufacturing style is for you.

At the same time, this FDM 3D printer is a great option for learning more about the technology. We’ve sold this printer to engineering teams in the past as a means of learning more about how to optimize their 3D printing workflow. After some time, those teams would come back to us and purchase even bigger, more powerful, more expensive FDM 3D printers.

If you want to start making 3D-printed plastic parts and you’re not sure where to start, the CraftBot Plus Pro is a great option.

Features and Benefits

An Easy-to-Use 3D Printer that Fits Your Engineering Budget

When it comes to affordability, the CraftBot Plus Pro is arguably the best option on the lineup of CraftBot printers. It has a large touchscreen that will walk you through each printing operation and the print bed has features to make your life easier. Multiple first-time printers turn to the CraftBot Plus Pro as a great introduction to 3D printing. This machine takes all of the guesswork out of making high-quality prints, allowing your engineering team to get started today.

Affordability You’ll Appreciate

When it comes to industrial FDM 3D printing, the CraftBot Plus Pro proves that you don’t need to overpay to get great results. This machine is one of the most affordable on the market, and it offers much more than an everyday consumer-grade 3D printer.

  • Plenty of materials to choose from. With a decent temperature range, you can print a ton of different materials with success.
  • Added sensors and features. Features like auto-stopping, filament sensing, and automatic leveling are rare to find at this price point, but you’ll get them all with the CraftBot Plus Pro.
  • A high-quality enclosure. The enclosure keeps your print temperatures perfect and even offers a locking door to keep others out of your printer.

Incredible Reliability

As an engineer, you don’t have the luxury of wasting hours trying to troubleshoot a 3D printer and convince the machine to start running. With the CraftBot Plus Pro, you get another level of reliability that makes your life easier.

  • Virtually no startup. Starting up the machine only involves letting the extruder heat up. This process takes a few minutes, then you’ll be ready to start printing.
  • No required maintenance or service. With the CraftBot Plus Pro, there is no required long-term maintenance that will get in your way.
  • Long-lasting printer. This printer is designed to last. You can run it for years on end without any dip in quality.

Great for First-Timers

We’ve heard nothing but great things about the CraftBot Plus Pro from engineers who are first getting into 3D printing. This machine is truly built for teams that have no previous experience.

  • Flexible print bed. The CraftBot Plus Pro has a print bed that makes adhesion easy and simplifies how you remove prints when they’re done — two areas that usually come with a lot of headaches.
  • Easy-to-use touchscreen. The touchscreen is super easy to use and has clearly labeled buttons, so you’re never second-guessing what you should press.
  • Pause and play anytime. Each print can be paused, resumed, and started at any time without any loss in quality.

More About This Technology

Fused deposition modeling (FDM) is one of the most common forms of 3D printing, and it’s largely used by hobbyists and DIYers. It has a special place in industrial settings as a low-cost way to make presentable 3D parts. You might use an FDM printer to create a scaled model home, an aesthetic representation of the final part, or a non-load-bearing component.

FDM works through an extruder on an XYZ (3-axis) gantry. Solid plastic is pushed against a hot nozzle which turns the plastic molten. The molten plastic is then carefully applied to the bed of your 3D printer. The 3-axis gantry will move around in X and Y, drawing a single layer of your 3D model. When it’s done, the nozzle will move up in the Z direction and create a new layer directly on top of the previously-extruded layer. This process continues until your full 3D-printed part is completed.

FDM printers are not used for load-bearing applications due to the weakness of the plastic material, and the weak points between each layer of the print. Even a small cyclic load can easily cause failure between layers.

You might find FDM-printed parts in the aerospace, medical, and consumer goods industries.
